I think insects have instincts, not feelings, but its just my opinion

Even if they have feelings, they cannot possibly understand them, right? Laughing

Yes but I'm sure our brain was like that too many many many many(x10000000) years ago... So their brains can develop too!

They can develop, yeah, but not right now. At the moment they are simple insects. You can't judge ants' feelings on "that they can develop" and what they may be like in millions of years. Live in the moement.

Yeah, look at how long it took us to "understand" our feelings...

Bacteria is a living thing, yet I don't think they are sad when other bacteria die, neither do they scream when you wash them away. Laughing

Also, if it learns, feels, thinks, etc, then it's no different from us in the mind. All our minds are are computers.

I think much in the same way you do. One thing makes me stop and wonder, though: Awareness. Does a stone have 'awareness'/consciousness? Does a simple machine (catapult)? Does a computer?

EDIT: And, to make this stuff on-topic: Does a construct have an independent awareness/'point of view'?

Some people believe that psi is the stuff consciousness is made of. Under this belief system, making a psi ball is creating a ball of consciousness. In which case, you would consider the psi ball to be alive. It depends on all your definitions... different people believe different things.

In that case, it would be cruel to let Psi Ball go Laughing Laughing

Actually, while there have been computers made that can talk to you, none have yet reached the point of intelligence which is that an alerted, reasonably intelligent person can talk to it without realizing within a reasonable amount of time that they're talking to a program not a person.

While this is a vague definition, simply being able to answer back does not even come close to that level of intelligence.
