ive been interested in it for a while and i was wondering what it is, clearing youre mind? or focusing on somthing? they seem to be two compleat opposites. next i want to know is breathing meditation simply basic meditation that you must learn before you can do things with youre meditation like you must learn to crawl before u can play football or whatever. next im realy interested in mantras and i was wondering if i can make up my own? guidlines to follow? and possibley a website with a bunch of non religiouse based mantras. i guess i should tell you my main interests lie in pk, lucid dreams, and energy manipulation. which reminds me id like information on chakra meditation as well such as how to store relise energy and of course third eye stuff any help would be very apreciated thank you for youre time

Maybe you should check this place out:
http://swamij.com/index-yoga-meditation-mantra.htm As for the meditation question. There are many types of meditation...all of the ones you mentioned are real as far as I know. |

you can meditate however you please
you can use meditation to understand a concept, have a clear time to think you can use it to forget all the crap youre thinking about and rest your mind also to understand your body better, to sit and feel the energy so forth, blah blah blah its really up to you what you use it for and yes, there are plenty of people who do not meditate and still do pk |

well... um... basically you sit there and don't do anything.
One technique for meditation that I did in karate is this: sit cross legged or in sazi(sp) and then focus on a spot on the carpet or wherever you're sitting and then clear your mind of everything, make it completely blank. If a thought of school or work or a relationship pops into your head or whatever, make it go away. then just keep your mind completely blank and sit there, breathing deep and steadily. |

are you kidding, cause it was bloody well impossible for me to 'just clear my mind' when i was starting infact, thats what i find disuades people most from meditation, the ideal of having a blank mind that have your mind absent from all thought stuff stopped a couple of my friends from meditating |

Indeed, not all meditation requires a blank mind. For instance, you should check out "Motionless Meditation" in this section. It is the meditation that I perform every night.
