Instead of ranking, we could make a topic about what kind of abilities we have, and how much skilled we are in each one. That would make it more interesting.

At this point we could even make a 'ranking' system, but not to make ppl feel superior...but make them know who to ask questions regarding those skills. (i think most of us can't do 'great' things with psi anyway. On a comparison, of course, because showing a psiwheel move by itself to a non-psion will probably make him get shocked =P, while showing it to a skilled psion will result in a "congratulations on moving your psiwheel"). We'll progress much more if we share our experiences Wink

Cannot agree more than that.
With ranking system it really proves me one thing, which unfortunately is not about the existence or inexistenace of psionics, but more about the fact this becomes an EGO thing. 'I've got 8 points there, means I'm superior than you are' . I can never believe that someone thinking like that can really do Psionics, I've always thought an open-mind was THE prerequisite to psionics.

Ranks=Bad Idea

I can barly move a psi wheel but I also am pretty clairvoyant. Your rank system is only applicable if people learn in the order you have desided they should learn in.

allright, i know its been said before, but,,,, ill say it again, just to annoy people Very Happy ur psi ranking system, well, doesnt work, i can make shields EASY, but cant do any "specialised" abilities with ease, so, in short, a ranking system isnt the worst idea ever, but it needs to be a level for each skill, not a ranking based on how u think someone should learn,

Yeah so if you want to go ahead and make a psionic community, then go ahead. Good luck with that. Otherwise, ranking generally suck.

Its better to just be like "oh yeah i can do some telepathy, usually pretty accurate. Tk, biggest thing moved was a pencil..." stuff like that. Grades are very mean to newbies.

and to veterens. i've been practicing for a long while, but i'm just starting to roll objects. my energy manipulation is real good, sensing/scanning are good, telepathy is decent, and the "forbidden" topic i'm good at.. if you were to rank me by his scale, i would have a ranking of 1 or so because of the PK requirement, which is unfair since i am skilled in all the other aspects. rankings don't go well with psionics, mainly because of the variety of skills. also because we all have one or two skills we specialize in, and the others are a "little behind." if we were to be ranked by the skill we specialize in, we would have a good rank. if we were to be ranked by the skills we're not so good in, we wouldn't have a good rank. so the question is how to rank a psion? well...you can't. especially with this system. ranks are unfair, no matter if you are a "newbie" or a "master" psion.
