Correct me if I am wrong, but the psipog forums are "temporary"? yes? Well, I don't think they should be. Of course, I'm not the one writing all the coding and I wouldn't know why this site is temporary to psipog, but I think that these forums should stay just like this. They are fine as they are in my opinion and I don't mind having two passwords and accounts. NP to me.
So why not remove the bit at the top of the page that says temporary and keep the lovely forums as they are, instead of creating new ones?

Dunno... from what Sean has said about the new forums... Well, they are nice and shiny, with lots of cool stuff, all of it useful.

Not sure, both are fine. I don't care about it, as long as it is a forum.

These forums will probably be around for a while. But they will be updated eventually to a custom script. I will probably leave these forums up for a little while after that, as an archive, but eventually I'll delete them completely.

The main reason for updating to the new forums is better integration. You'll be able to use your PsiPog.net username, and the PsiPog.net mailing system. The phpBB mailing system is absolutely terrible and bass ackwards. The most important feature of the new forums (in my opinion) is that it will ALL be searchable. I.e., you type a few lines to search for, and it brings back forum posts, articles, Q&A, your own mail, and blog results.

On top of that, I can customize it more easily. I'll be starting with having a thumbs up/down system, where users can vote for how good a post or thread is. If it gets a certain number of thumbs down's, then it'll trip a report for a moderator to check the thread or post out. Hopefully that will motivate people to post QUALITY information, and it will help in choosing future moderators... just look at their thumbs up count.

phpBB basically sucks. I'm not happy with the software. But, it is free, and it's easily deployed, so they've succeeded in that sense. The features are crappy though. It works for now.

Can't we have our current forum nicknames on the new forum? Nobody will recognise me with my Psipog username, AliasMcAlias. (Vladimir was taken).

I think that mabye the forum names could be redone, like the person types their forum nickname, and that is what they are known as on the forum, but their account is still different.

Or if it's possible tie the mIRC and forum together so that you use the password from one to gain access to the other? You could kill two birds with one stone. Please don't hurt me if you think I'm a complete duffus...

I don't really mind one way or another. I'm SgtPsion on both sites. As long as the good threads are left up, I'm not bothered in the slightest.
