Only up to a point. The story of David and Goliath in the bible is a good example of the failings of this type of strategy. Man to man, Goliath would win. There is no doubt he would have beaten David at close range. Unfortunately he was easily killed with a slingshot. Had the invaders produced an army instead, David would never have had time to kill them all with his slingshot and they would definitely have won either at close or far range, even though none of them on their own would have necessarily equalled the strength of Goliath. |
