Well, for my program, I was having it first authenticate the username/password with PsiPog via a PHP script. That script would return a password for the IRC channel. The client would connect to the IRC server, and join the channel with the correct password. While inside the room, it would communicate using RSA encryption scheme, using a custom protocol that I had invented. The other clients connected would be able to decode the messages, and display them as normal in everyone else's clients.
The protocol looked a lot like AIM's protocol, OSCAR. You can probably find some documentation around online to give you an idea on what goes into an IM client. Or you can look up the Jabber protocol, which was designed for IM use. EDIT: And sure... you have my "permission". Not sure why you think you need my permission though. You are free to program whatever you want, for whatever reason you want - as long as you don't violate copyright laws, etc. As long as it isn't presented as "the official PsiPog IM service" or whatever. You're free to make a "Paranormal IM service" on you're own. ~Sean |

well i made a basic encryption program but i'm not sure if it'll be usefull
a little demonstration: example text: hello my name is nanaki what is your name? result with the password test:

result with the password tset:
the only problem here is that the posted data(so the encrypted chat text) would be bigger then the actual data (the newlines aren't included in the encrypted text) so i'm not sure it's usable i could use a basic 64 encode but that would nog give the possebility to use passwords or stuff the result would be this aGVsbG8gbXkgbmFtZSBpcyBuYW5ha2kgd2hhdCBpcyB5b3VyIG5hbWU/ |

This is a great idea.
Peebrain- if you have a new version of phpbb, there is a Virtual Chat option in the administration panel that you can set up. When people click the chat room option at the bottom of the forum index, they get sent into a chat room. There they are signed on under their forum name, and can chat with other users. It isnt the best program in the world... but it works. |

Well, i tried to use psipog chat... but it didnt send me my comfirmation email  . I think it might just be my AOL, but i dont know.
