Has anyone here ever heard of airsoft? Well if you have, do you know any websites or stores in New York that sell guns really cheap or know of any good guns they would reccommend for me to buy that are under $50. If you dont know what it is, it is a game like paintball but with BBs and realistic guns.

PS-Im broke and very cheap Very Happy

I have airsofted a couple of times! And I am also cheap...I have a spring pistol that shoots in the 200 fps region. But, whenever I airsoft...I borrow my friends pistol that shoots around 350 fps. But no, I don't know any stores.

EDIT: Well, there are sports stores that usually sell them, like Sports Authority or Big 5 or something like that...but keep in mind they are not top of the line but your not going to get top of the line with $50 anyways.

I own a Tokyo Marui P90 upgraded to 380 FPS, with an M4 barrel (protected by a silencer). Take my advice, if you're going to be playing airsoft with other "professionals" that own good guns, don't waste your $50 on a piece of shit spring loading crap gun, you need an AEG (automatic electric gun). Furthermore, if you want any chance of competing with the rest of the guys, you need at least 350 FPS. I mean with the stock 250 FPS guns you'll find, you might as well be spitting the bb's at the enemy.

For a decent gun with an m120 spring, metal bushings, and AT LEAST a 9.6v battery (10.8v is better, but will wear out your gearbox 3x faster), you'll probably drop upwards of $400.
Oh, I forgot, you're gonna want a hi-cap magazine too. The stock mags usually hold somewhere around 50 bbs. I have a hi-cap for my P90 that holds something like 1200. :-)

As for where to get your gun, the cheapest guns come from Chinese websites (www.redwolfairsoft.com), but the problem with these sites is shipping. Airsoft guns are known to be stuck in US customs for months on end because they look exactly like a real gun. Your best bet is to buy your gun from an American store. You'll end up paying $20 - 30 more than the Asian gun, even after shipping, but you won't have to go through the hassle of customs.

A good US retailer that I've purchased from in the past is www.21stcenturyairsoft.com.
Here's a list of a ton of online airsoft retailers sorted by country:

One more thing, since most guns need to be upgraded before they are useful, many of those sites offer upgrade packages. If you're not comfortable with taking apart your gun and making the necessary modifications, you can go ahead and pay them something like $50 to upgrade it for you. Here's a link of what would be involved in modifying your gun.

Good info Malius, but as he said he is broke and cheap...so either he is lying and can get one or he is telling the truth about being broke and can't get a good one.

What I'm trying to say is that airsoft won't be fun with a cheap gun.

Nice, I like the blow back action...it makes it feel realistic. Hey, you know what I hate about airsoft guns? Well, it's the determination of how much higher you should aim the gun because of gravity and distance. I hate it because I always miss from distances. And the wind moves your pellets too.

Most new guns (not pistols, but actual AEGs) have something called hop-up. It puts a backspin on the BB so that it shoots farther because its trajectory drops down more slowly over time. If you hold a gun with hop-up sideways and shoot it, you can see the BB curve to the side (because it doesn't have gravity to straighten its path).

I believe that higher quality gas pistols have hop up as well. I know my WE high-capa 5.1 does. It shoots beautifully.
