Next time this happens, instead of outright touching it, try to just bring the back of one of your hands close to it.

I do not to be mean, I was just thinking. You are a psion, have you ever considered attempting to fix your problem psionically if normal medical treatment does not seem to work? Either healing or bio-pk with enough work could in theory at least lessen the intensity of your problem.

Actually, Aohd. It's not JUST little "rituals". Also, if I see something, I sometimes have to do something with it. If I don't, it's like trying not to breath.

That sucks that you have that problem. Couldn't you just put your hand near it to feel for heat? And isn't it possible to overcome it? And I also agree with Innerfire on his latest comment.

EDIT: oops, Eldibs already suggested my idea...but you could just also touch it fast and it does no harm.

Nah. I had to put my hand on it and sort of "embrace" the heat.
Not sure why it worked like that really.

I just don't believe in it because...it seems pretty silly to think that something as complex as the human mind can be fooled by words and objects, but then again ive seen it happen and/or felt it.

But still, i dont get how it could. What Vladimir said reinforces that for me.

The mind is fooled by words and objects like 99% of the time.

(not 99%, but you get my drift)

All forms of hypnosis work because of one reason: Hypnosis and meditation are one in the same. Both processes are identical and produce the same results. Therefore, when you are hyponized, it is just someone else guiding you toward a meditative state.

The mind only gets fooled if it's not paying attention. Subliminal messages are slow enough to notice easily, and if they were too fast to track, I doubt the subconscious mind would track it either.
